FROM 6TH JULY 2020 TO 20TH NOVEMBER 2021, THE CREATIVE CONTEST WILL BE OPENED TO PUPILS IN CLASS IV OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE FOLLOWING ITALIAN PROVINCES (PROVINCIAL CAPITALS AND CITIES): MILAN, BOLZANO, TRENTO, TRIESTE, TORINO, BOLOGNA, PARMA, ROME, BARI, NAPLES AND FLORENCE.
With the help of their teachers and Piave DOP cheese (Protected Denomination of Origin), children will learn how to recognize denominations of origin and to improve their knowledge of food and ability to make healthy choices.
They will be involved in a project that gives them the tools to observe the characteristics and particular features of the product, inspiring them to develop and create a storyboard following the adventures of Captain Piave, imagining what the superhero will have to deal with in his next mission in defense of the EU quality schemes. Guided by their teachers, pupils will be introduced to the European Union, its quality schemes and, in particular, Piave DOP cheese, investigating the importance of the place of origin, the production methods and certified quality.
The purpose of the competition is to promote and broaden awareness of the origin and role of DOP-labelled products, to help to guide the selection criteria and the individual actions of pupils so that they develop the conscience of informed consumers. The project also aims to improve their specific knowledge of the characteristics and quality of Piave DOP cheese and promote the concept that wellbeing can be happily combined with taste and pleasure.
At the end of the contest, there will be an awards ceremony to which the 3 winning classes, institutions, journalists and operators in the sector will be invited. This event will be an opportunity to present the winning storyboards(which will then be published online).
The first prize for the winning class will be an interactive whiteboard: an effective tool to promote innovation within education. Those in 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded with smaller prizes (a notebook and a tablet respectively).
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The competition is open to primary school pupils in Class IV in the following Italian provinces (provincial capitals and cities): Milan, Bolzano, Trento, Trieste, Turin, Bologna, Parma, Rome, Bari, Naples and Florence.
