THE COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN

THE PROJECT

IN 2020, A WONDERFUL COMPETITION WILL BE LAUNCHED FOR STUDENTS IN CLASSES 4 AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN 10 ITALIAN CAPITALS!

In 2020, a creative contest will be launched for primary school pupils in Class 4 .  With the help of their teachers and Piave DOP cheese (Protected Denomination of Origin), the children will learn how to recognise denominations of origin, improve their knowledge of food and ability to make healthy choices.

They will be involved in a project that gives them the tools to observe the characteristics and particular features of the product, inspiring them to develop and create a storyboard following the adventures of Captain Piave, imagining what the superhero will have to deal with in his next mission in defence of the EU quality schemes. Guided by their teachers, pupils will be introduced to the European Union, its quality schemes and, in particular, Piave DOP cheese, investigating the importance of the place of origin, the production methods and certified quality.

The purpose of the competition is to promote and broaden awareness of the origin and role of DOP-labelled products, to help to guide the selection criteria and the individual actions of pupils so that they develop the conscience of informed consumers. The project also aims to improve their specific knowledge of the characteristics and quality of Piave DOP cheese and promote the concept that wellbeing can be happily combined with taste and pleasure.

The contest is open to schools from 10 Italian regions and cities: Lombardy (Milan), Alto Adige (Bolzano), Trentino (Trento), Friuli Venezia Giulia (Trieste), Piedmont (Turin), Emilia Romagna (Bologna and Parma), Lazio (Rome), Puglia (Bari), Campania (Naples) and Tuscany (Florence).

At the end of the contest, there will be an awards ceremony to which the 3 winning classes, institutions, journalists and operators in the sector will be invited.  This event will be an opportunity to present the winning storyboards (which will then be published online).

The first prize for the winning class will be  an interactive whiteboard: an effective tool for promoting innovation within education. Those in 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded with smaller prizes.
